Commitment

1

The size of the bonito

In spring, young 2-3kg first-catch bonito; in autumn, richly fatty 4-5kg returning bonito, carefully selected by season.

2

Raw bonito from Kochi

Most Kochi bonito is pole-and-line caught, leaving it beautiful and undamaged. We ship our select bonito direct from the port.

3

Straw from Shiga

We use straw hand-cut ourselves from vast contracted fields in Shiga. Dried straw burns hot with the finest smoky aroma.

4

The grilling

Over straw flames reaching 1000 degrees, we sear a crust about 5mm into the flesh, then finish with residual heat to lock in flavor.

5

The thickness of the cut

Cut over 1cm thick so the straw aroma fills your mouth, brimming with bonito flavor and a springy texture.

6

Our chosen salt

A fully sun-dried salt handmade by artisans from Kochi seawater. We select larger crystals for a mellow mineral taste.

Service

01

Robata & Warayaki

04

How to enjoy Robata

Robata Story

01

Choose your seat: counter or round table

Across 90 seats there are counter seats, round tables, three table private rooms for six each, and two tatami private rooms for up to 30. For a close view of the straw flames, take the counter.

02

Straight off the fire, taste it plain

Begin at the surface, wrapped in the fragrance of straw. The first plain mouthful tells you what the bonito and the Omi beef taste like on their own.

03

Move through the course with salt and citrus

Partway through, bring in condiments, rock salt and citrus. On the Shiga Mankitsu course, ten dishes at 6,050 yen, the meal runs on to Kurao pork and Omi duck junjun.

04

A cup after walking Hikone Castle

Hikone Castle, Genkyuen and Yumekyobashi Castle Road are a two minute walk back from JR Hikone Station. Our staff suggest the Shiga sake that suits your sashimi or straw-grilled plate.

A Special Day Made Perfect with Hikone Banquet Courses

The Best Banquets in Hikone! Secrets to Choosing the Perfect Course

Dining with loved ones, company farewell parties, or casual get-togethers with close friends. Banquets are special, memorable occasions for all attendees. Especially for a banquet in Hikone, a city blessed with ancient history and rich nature, expectations are even higher. However, event organizers often worry, asking themselves, What kind of restaurant should I choose? or What Hikone banquet course will please everyone?.

In this article, we'll introduce specific selection tips and restaurant charms to help organizers planning a banquet in Hikone find the perfect Hikone banquet course without hesitation and enjoy it to the fullest. It's packed with hints for savoring the changing seasons through food and creating the best memories.

Solving Organizers' Worries! How to Avoid Disappointment at Your Hikone Banquet

Have you ever experienced a special banquet where the food was disappointing, the restaurant's atmosphere wasn't what you expected, or the smoking and non-smoking sections were uncomfortably close? As an organizer, you want to avoid hearing such feedback. Let's look at some common concerns when planning a banquet in Hikone.

  • Not wanting to fail at menu selection: With a mix of ages and preferences among attendees, it's hard to know what dishes will be popular.
  • The atmosphere might not be right: You want to avoid something too casual, but overly formal is also a problem. Private rooms may also be necessary.
  • Finding a course with high satisfaction within budget: You want to choose a Hikone banquet course that is both cost-effective and offers substantial content.
  • Convenient access for a Hikone Station gathering: A location with good access from the station is desirable, especially for attendees coming from far away.
  • Availability of separated smoking areas or allergy accommodations: Concerns about whether people who dislike smoke or have allergies can enjoy themselves safely.

To solve these problems and create a banquet that brings a smile to every attendee's face, choosing the right restaurant and course is crucial. In the next section, we will delve into concrete solutions to resolve these worries.

The Deciding Factor for a Hikone Banquet Course: The Colors of the Season

The success of a banquet depends, above all, on the quality and content of the food. Especially in Hikone, where the four seasons of Japan are cherished, choosing a course that lavishly uses seasonal ingredients is the secret to capturing your guests' hearts.

Exquisite Flavors Woven from Seasonal Seafood

At our restaurant, we value the shun (peak season) of ingredients above all else. We carefully select fresh seafood delivered directly from all over Japan, not to mention the bounty of Lake Biwa, and our skilled chefs work their magic. For example, in spring, we feature firm sea bream and firefly squid; in summer, rock oysters and summer white fish; in autumn, fatty returning bonito and saury; and in winter, crab with its concentrated umami. The rich bounty of the sea adorns our tables differently each season. A Hikone banquet course that allows you to fully savor the best of this Hikone seafood is sure to satisfy even the most discerning food connoisseurs.

  • Exceptionally fresh seafood: We use fresh seafood procured daily to bring out the ingredients' natural flavors.
  • Cooking that showcases craftsmanship: We offer a variety of cooking methods, such as sashimi, grilled dishes, and simmered dishes, to maximize the potential of each ingredient.
  • Cuisine that reflects Hikone's character: We combine local ingredients with seasonal seafood to pursue a taste unique to Hikone.

Enjoying Japan's Four Seasons with Your Eyes and Palate

Cuisine is to be enjoyed not just with the palate, but with the eyes as well. Beautiful plating that expresses the changing seasons adds flair to the banquet table and sparks conversation. A dish garnished with colorful seasonal vegetables and seasonal flowers is like a small work of art. With every bite, the aroma of the season spreads, allowing you to feel Japan's four seasons with all five senses. A thoughtfully crafted Hikone banquet course like this becomes more than just a meal—it becomes an experience that will remain in your memories.

  • Vibrant plating: We arrange seasonal ingredients beautifully to create dishes that are a delight to look at.
  • Abundant seasonal local vegetables: We use fresh vegetables sourced directly from local farmers to create deeply flavorful dishes.
  • Seasonal special menus: We incorporate special delicacies into our courses that can only be enjoyed during that specific time of year.

A Perfect Space for Various Occasions, Including Hikone School Reunions

Banquets serve many purposes: a Hikone school reunion with old friends, a family anniversary, a business reception, or a casual get-together with friends. Whether a restaurant has spaces suitable for each scene is another crucial point in your selection.

Choosing a Private Room for Relaxed Conversation

Our restaurant offers numerous private rooms that can accommodate groups of all sizes, from small to large. For a Hikone school reunion where you want to chat without worrying about others, or for an important business dinner, a private space is ideal. Our private rooms with horigotatsu (sunken kotatsu) seating are popular because you can stretch out your legs and relax, making them comfortable even for long banquets. Each private room is unified with a calm, traditional Japanese atmosphere, allowing you to spend your time at ease.

  • Private rooms for any group size: We can guide you to a private room suited for your needs, from 2 to a maximum of 50 guests.
  • A private space: You can focus on conversations with your important guests without being disturbed by the surrounding noise.
  • A calm, traditional Japanese atmosphere: We create an extraordinary experience in a space that evokes the beauty of traditional Japan.

Convenient Access and Ease of Use for Hikone Station Gatherings

Our location within walking distance of JR Hikone Station is a major advantage for organizers inviting guests from afar or planning a Hikone Station gathering. It allows for smooth arrivals and departures, reducing the burden on attendees and making the banquet more comfortable. It's also easy for people to stop by after work, making it an attractive and accessible choice. We have prioritized good access so that everyone can gather easily.

  • Prime location near the station: Just a few minutes' walk from Hikone Station. You can arrive without getting lost.
  • Smooth transition to after-parties: The area around Hikone Station has many options for after-parties, making it convenient to move to the next location.
  • Parking available: We also provide parking for customers arriving by car.

A Comfortable Environment at a Hikone Izakaya with Separated Smoking for Everyone to Enjoy

In recent years, with growing health consciousness, there has been an increasing demand for separated or non-smoking environments. Especially at banquets where people of all ages gather, an environment where all guests can be comfortable is essential.

Consideration for Everyone's Comfort

As a Hikone izakaya with separated smoking, our establishment provides a space where all customers, both smokers and non-smokers, can spend their time comfortably. By setting up a completely enclosed smoking room, we ensure that smoke does not drift into the non-smoking sections, allowing families with children and those sensitive to smoke to visit with peace of mind. We are also equipped with air purifiers and strive to maintain a constantly clean and pleasant atmosphere.

  • Peace of mind with complete separation: The smoking and non-smoking areas are fully separated to block the flow of smoke.
  • Clean air environment: We have installed high-performance air purifiers to always keep the air inside clean.
  • Welcoming to a wide range of guests: An environment where everyone, from families to business clients, can feel comfortable.

Accommodating Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

Food safety and our customers' health are our top priorities. For those with food allergies or dietary restrictions, we do our best to adjust menus or suggest alternative ingredients. Please feel free to consult with us when you make a reservation or during your meal. With hospitality tailored to each individual customer, we provide meticulous service to ensure that everyone can enjoy their Hikone banquet course with peace of mind.

  • Consult in advance for reassurance: Please inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions when making your reservation.
  • Flexible menu adjustments: We will adjust the menu to accommodate your requests as much as possible.
  • Detailed information: If you have any questions about the ingredients used, please ask our staff.
